Holiday Goodies: Empire Baking Company
There’s nothing that says the holidays than pumpkin spice and gingerbread. One of IttyBittyFoodies’ favorite locally owned bakeries, Empire Baking Company has released a line of holiday goods. I count it ‘almost homemade’ as everything is made from scratch with ingredients that I would use myself like Plugra™ butter and Callebaut™ chocolate except I didn’t have to lift a finger to make it. And whenever we buy breads from them, I feel confident knowing that Empire Baking Company does not use fillers, conditioners, dough enhancers, preservatives, artificial flavors or colors.
I’m writing this as we’re snowed in for the last couple of days, an anomaly in Dallas which shuts the entire city down. Googie who is now 12 months old has just discovered pumpkin bread. We’ve been trying to get him to sign the word, ‘more’ by putting this two closed fists together and at the sight of the pumpkin bread, his hands sign like crazy! So thank you, Empire Baking Company for giving him the encouragement!
My nut crazy, 8 year old Pikelet loved the pecan pie. Packed with local Texas pecans, this pie is swirly, sweet with a nice flaky crust. However, it’s so heavy, that it’s a one slice deal. The melt-in-your-mouth Callebaut™ brownies turned out to be the family favorite. Divine and heavenly, this was great with a glass of milk. Ummm… the Callebaut chocolate just makes a huge difference. For Beefcake and I, gingerbread loaf took the cake for us. It was probably one of the best gingerbreads we’ve ever had, buttery, moist and with a zing from the ginger.
Thank you, Empire Baking Company for this little care package. Being snowed in Dallas could be worse!
Till our next Happy Meal!
