Good 2 Go Taco in Casa Linda
“This tastes delightfully strange,” comments Beefcake as he bites into the fried chicken “Hotlanta” taco from Good 2 Go Taco. The well seasoned waffle-battered chicken breast crunched and gave way to devilishly succulent meat. Warm sweet potatoes in honey butter lay underneath and the whole concoction is wrapped in a warm springy taco.
The busy Casa Linda taco shop shares a space with Cultivar Coffee run by passionate tattooed baristas with cool, thick black rimmed glasses.
The service is casual and as you line up to order, you can peruse the shelves of craft sodas below the chalk board menu which also offers salads and wraps. An eclectic crowd of families perhaps on their way to the nearby Arboretum, cyclists from their morning rides on White Rock Lake and hipsters flowed in and out effortlessly. Good 2 Go is definitely more Portlandia than GCB.
As upmarket taco places go, these were larger and more filling than other places where we had to order 2-3 tacos per adult. This Sunday brunch, we ordered three tacos and one salad, aptly named Big Salads for the table of four.
Lollo enjoyed a DIY bacon and egg taco while Pikelet added moist braised beef to his. Beefcake’s Yardbird was a huge salad with moist grilled chicken, bacon, crunchy jicama, cheddar, apple, mixed greens with a magical sweet maple and jalapeno vinaigrette.
The tacos combinations were not what one would expect and a few caught our imagination like the Greek inspired “Glutton for Mutton” which was grilled leg of lamb, pearl couscous, tomato salad, arugula, tzatziki and feta or the “Choppin’ Brocco-lay” for a vegetarian option with caramelized broccoli, onion, roasted red peppers, cheese and grains.
We didn’t get a chance to savor every item off the menu but it just means, we’ll definitely be back soon.
