Bolsa Mercado in Oak Cliff

Sometimes (well.. most times) we want our food fast but we don’t want fast food. So we go to Bolsa Mercado which is a few doors away from the Bolsa the restaurant which had a 45 minute wait on Sunday morning.

Bolsa Mercado which opened December 2011,  is more than a market, it’s also a coffee bar and mini deli which serves house-made kolaches, breakfast muffins, pastries, salads and sandwiches.

The market is a foodie’s dream featuring small selections of cheeses, meats, sausages, spices, organic snacks, local honey, chocolate, ice creams and sauces with an emphasis on local, artisanal or organic.  You’ll see Dude Sweet Chocolate, Village Baking Co., Garden District Bloody Marys mix, Wackym’s cookies to name a few local vendors. There’s also beer and wine, lots of it.

Upon entering, Lollo spotted his favorite yogurt from Three Happy Cows while Pikelet casually lounged on the couches by the front door. A long communal table stretches across the room with several tables and chairs set out the back.

As with the nature of Oak Cliff, things were casual and laid back. A family came over with a 2 year old ittybittyfoodie to say hi while Pikelet & Lollo munch on morning kolaches and croissants.

We love Oak Cliff. It’s a cool little village of earth conscious, community oriented, bike pedaling/EV charging and food loving people. Group hug anyone?

  • Itty Bitty Foodies Tip: If kids can’t do the long waits at Bolsa, go to Bolsa Mercado and have a drink, the restaurant will call you when a table is available
  • Parent Foodies Tip: Do your groceries while you’re there! Plus they offer dinner to go every night with wine pairing suggestion.
